Shots from L.A.: Capturing stories, one frame at a time
Welcome to Shots from L.A., the lens of Lauren Agee. As multimedia journalist, I'm on a mission to tell compelling stories through powerful photography and videography. Join me as I pursue my dream of photojournalism, bringing voices and moments to life.
My journey into photojournalism
My name is Lauren Agee, and I'm a graduate of Franklin College with a Bachelor's in Multimedia Journalism. Since graduating in August 2025, I've been actively pursuing my passion for capturing the action and aiming to become a photojournalist. My internship experiences with The Pulliam Fellowship Marketing Team and The Statehouse File solidified my love for storytelling through every photo and video I take.
Ever since I took on the Internships doing photography and videography work, I learned that I loved capturing moments of memorable events. Whenever I go out and take pictures and videos of those memorable events and edit my work, I felt like I was giving back a gift through my work. Whenever someone would come up to me to ask, “could you send that to me?” I would feel a sense of euphoria and feel like I was fulfilling a sense of purpose. I felt like I was fulfilling the same sense of purpose working at The State House File, when I would spread the voices of others sharing their stories through the art of video, photography, reporting, writing and social media content.
The power of visual storytelling
Through my work, I've discovered a love for how stories are told through visual media. There's a sense of euphoria I feel when I spread the voices of others through photography, videography, and other story formats. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve my goal of working in photojournalism, one step at a time.
